Hospital Receptionist
Job Summary:
The Hospital Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and vendors. This role is responsible for greeting and assisting guests, answering phone calls, managing appointments, and coordinating with medical staff to ensure smooth front desk operations. The receptionist plays a key role in providing a professional and welcoming atmosphere in the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner
- Answer, screen, and forward incoming calls, take messages, and provide information as needed
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments using the hospital management system
- Maintain patient records and ensure proper documentation of visits and services
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other departments to facilitate efficient patient care
- Handle inquiries regarding hospital services, hours, and directions
- Manage the front desk area, ensuring it is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary materials
- Process patient check-ins and check-outs, including verifying personal and insurance information
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards (HIPAA compliance)
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred)
- Prior experience in a receptionist or customer service role, preferably in a healthcare environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with hospital or clinic management software
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Professional appearance and demeanor
